The Story of “Macbeth”
William Shakespeare’s is a story about uncontrolled ambition. Macbeth is a character who reflects on human nature.
Act 3, scene 4, William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth.
In the beginning of act 3, Banquo starts to realize and then fear that the witch’s predictions are becoming true, that Macbeth was the one whom killed King Duncan to gain the tile of king himself. Macbeth fears that Banquos son will steal his place on the thrown. Macbeth feels he is forced to hire several murders to kill Banquo and Fleance to insure that this does not happen.
The murderers distinctively kill Banquo but due to confusion, Fleance manages to escape. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are hosting a social gathering at their castle, whist entertaining guests, the first murderer arrives announcing to Macbeth that Banquo is dead but Fleance lives. This frightens Macbeth due to the witch’s prophecy that Fleance will become king and not his descendants.
Macbeth is then at the table with his guests, he then sees the ghost of his friend Banquo. Macbeth panics, he is flooded with guilt, and Macbeth feels like everything he despised, a traitor. He then panics to such an existent that lady Macbeth is forced to end the party early, to hide suspicions of Macbeth’s sanity.
I would make the emotions expressed by Macbeth in this scene; reflect the atmosphere, toggling the clear inception that something isn’t right, which the audience would grasp rather quickly. I will use lighting and stage placement to my advantage to get across a surreal feeling to the audience.
I feel if I were to recreate this scene I would need to make it as affective, dramatic and original as I possibly could. My recreation would be a rundown futuristic abstract of the play, in the style of Cyberpunk. I chose this style because it has the same grunginess to fit Macbeth’s characteristics and yet hold a firm grasp to originality.
Cyberpunk is a science fiction genre known for its collaboration between high.
